Terms & Conditions

General
The placing of an order indicates you accept these Terms and Conditions. Please read carefully and keep a printed copy for your reference. These Terms and Conditions may change without notice.

You must be at least 18 years of age to order items through this website. These Terms and Conditions do not affect your statutory rights.

We reserve the right to refuse to print or display any image which might be considered offensive or illegal and we may refuse to process a transaction for any reason or refuse service to anyone at any time at our sole discretion.

Description of Goods and Pricing
All descriptive text and specifications on our website or advertising are for the sole purpose of giving an approximate description of the items/prints. This includes technical data, weight, measurements and performance. Fauxfilm accepts no responsibility for the correctness of this data.

All products and associated pricing are subject to availability and may be withdrawn or changed at any time.

All prices are trade prices excluding VAT which is the United Kingdom current Standard VAT rate of 17.5%.

Special offers and discounts are applied to printed product prices only. This excludes services such as mounting of the print to canvas frame or foam core board. The customer will still have to pay our standard postage rate for delivery of the prints unless otherwise stated.

Delivery pricing advertised on this website is for Mainland United Kingdom only. Any other delivery areas including some far reach areas of Scotland, Islands and all other countries Europe & Worldwide may be subject to further shipping charges.

We reserve the right to request further payment to cover any shortfall from calculation errors caused by database or coding bugs on this website. If the client does not agree, a full refund will be given and the order will be canceled.

Payment
We accept all major credit and debit cards. We use a secure payment method, so details will be entirely safe. You must provide us with your exact address as on the card that your credit bank has on file for you. Your order will only be dispatched once authorisation of your credit has been properly received.

Shipping and Delivery
The client is responsible for providing the correct address for delivery. Any errors due to a falsely indicated delivery address or wrong address data causing mis-delivery, the client will be responsible for any further courier or postage charges incurred.

We will not accept liability for goods lost in transit unless we are notified within 2 days from expected delivery date.

We are not responsible for any delay or failure in carrying out our duties under this agreement if the delay or failure is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. These circumstances include civil commotion, riots, flood, drought, fire, the postal service, the courier service and strikes. You must allow us reasonable time to carry out our duties in these circumstances.

While we try to deliver all goods ordered in accordance with our pledge, we take no responsibility for any consequence of late delivery however caused.

Print Quality
Every effort will be made to obtain the best possible colour reproduction on customer's work but because of the nature of the processes involved, we shall not be required to guarantee an exact match in colour or texture between the customer's photograph and the printed product. (That said, it is our experience that we receive colour complaints on less than 1% of the prints we ship.)

Fauxfilm does not provide any warranty for the fading of colours of print products. We expressly point out that the print products are exclusively intended for indoor use and away from direct sunlight.

Some notes regarding colour

  1. We calibrate our monitors and our printers. We use specialist Spectrophotometers and our frequent closed loop calibrations keep our colour very consistent and very accurate.
  2. If you are not sure about your colour, please contact us before you place your order. We can give you our subjective opinion. If you are a new customer and contemplate placing a large order, it is a good idea to place a small order first to make sure that your expectations are consistent with our calibrations.
  3. Some photofinishers use programs to "boost" the colour artificially. We don't adjust your files. We adhere to the school of thought that says that you probably want, and will get, exactly what's in your files. For example, if your file is dark, that probably means that you wanted it dark. Or if your file is low in contrast, that probably means that that's the way you want it. Don't rely on us to second-guess what you want. On the other hand, if you properly adjust your files first, you can rely on us to not do something you probably won't want us to do.
  4. Use our colour printer ICC profiles. We create profiles for our printer and paper combinations. Please download our profiles (From our Product Pages section) and use them when softproofing. This ensures correct screen to print consistency. Check back often to see if we have updated the profiles.
  5. Use RGB files, not CMYK.
  6. Fauxfilm is not responsible for colour issues if the client has assigned a colour profile or converted to the wrong working space causing a colour mismatch. If you are not sure how to correctly use colour profiling, please leave the image in it's natural, or original, colour space (eg. sRGB, Adobe RGB) and leave us to do do the profiling.
  7. We print using Relative Colorimetric rendering intent unless asked otherwise.

Other notes

  1. Check your thumbnails as you order. For example, if your thumbnail is solid black or solid white, and you expect the print to be something else, try re-uploading the file or contacting us before you place your order. Or, if you see a lot of unwanted white space around the image, don't expect us to crop it to size. Instead, contact us before you place your order.
  2. Stretched canvases have a 39mm depth. Unless told otherwise, we will use our Gallery Wrap option for our stretched canvases. This means the outmost 39mm of the image will be printed on the edges so remember about this affecting the overall composition of the photo.
  3. If the height to width ratio of your print (aspect ratio) is not the same as that of your file, and you specify that the print is to be automatically cropped to size, check first to make sure that this cropping won't cut off something important. Your file will be printed and cropped automatically from the center of the image outward to meet the final specified print size.
  4. If your image contains crop marks or a border, either white or any other colour, they will be printed just like everything else in your file. Don't put crop marks within your file unless you would like to have them on the print. Unless you specify automatic cropping at the time you place your order, the edge of your file will be the edge of the print (not including an extra 10mm white border around your print if you have specified that when you order.)
  5. We offer a free 10mm white border around the outside of your print if you want it. This outside border is designed to help you hang your photo inside a frame with a mount board. It is not designed to be visible, gloss differential compared to the rest of the print may occur.

It is company policy to contact you if for any reason we find your images are not suitable for printing (eg. resolution too low) and you will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to re-upload a more suitable image. The website upload engine will inform you if your image has suitable resolution.

Returns and Refunds
You must notify us of any shortages, damages, defect in quality or conditions of the product or failure of the product to correspond with the specification within a reasonable period of time. We would expect to receive such response within three (3) days of the date of delivery. As the products supplied by us are bespoke and manufactured according to your specifications, you are not entitled to reject a product or claim a refund for reasons other than those set out above.
In some cases, we may ask you to first return to us a portion of each print with which you are not happy. We may ask you to return a 4" x 8" piece of each print, showing the part you don't like. These pieces can be returned to us in an ordinary envelope. Do not return anything to us unless we ask you to.
